Sarstun, Guatemala

2012 Dates:

Sarstun is a small aldea (village) located on the Sarstun River, which forms a portion of the border between Belize and Guatemala. There are no roads in or out of Sarstun, making it accessible only by water, like many of the surrounding villages. The nearest town is 1 1/2 hours away by boat. A clinic/hospital was recently opened by Refuge International, thanks to the generosity of many donors and another nonprofit organization, Faith in Practice. A health care provider working full time will be available to help the more than 12,000 Mayans living in the area. Ongoing support is needed to maintain this wonderful facility, as there is little or no source of outside income for the people living there.

This medical mission trip is very challenging physically and is not the trip for anyone with physical constraints.
